“Nonprofit is not a business model — it’s a tax status.” - Noah Gray
Memphis has been built and cared for by nonprofit organizations since our city was founded. Those that have contributed significantly have all had one thing in common — an idea to do something that would make a meaningful difference in the community.
Do you have an opportunity, challenge, or critical decision you are facing? Do you think you could benefit from a curated group of seasoned business leaders listening to you and providing feedback and guidance?
Shine Memphis helps nonprofit leaders in Memphis get strategic guidance for their mission, opportunities, big ideas, and challenges they are facing -- by gathering a curated group of business leaders from across our city to consult nonprofit executive directors.
Shine Memphis is designed after a proven model for helping nonprofits access decision-making advice from community and business leaders.
How do I apply?
Once a month, we select one nonprofit leader who will make a brief strategic presentation highlighting the opportunities and challenges the organization is facing to a group of 10 or more seasoned business leaders. The leaders in the room are chosen based on their relevant experience. . These business leaders will provide targeted feedback and will be invited to participate in the meeting based on the type of opportunity or challenge the nonprofit leader is facing.
This is a one-time lunch meeting, not a recurring meeting. The nonprofit leader cannot solicit funds from the group, and there is no obligation to accept or implement any of the counsel received.
To submit your nonprofit for consideration, please fill out this form and describe the challenge or opportunity you are facing. Your description must be carefully thought out and highly specific to a particular opportunity, challenge, or critical decision you are facing. Click here to view a sample meeting agenda.
What happens when I’m selected?
If you are selected to present, we will gather a curated group of executives from across our city who have experience that is specific to the opportunity or challenge you are facing, and any and all follow ups after the one-off meeting will be done with The Center - Memphis at our discretion.
